On 6 and 7 November 2024, our conference on the new Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 took place in Linz. With a variety of high-level presentations and a comprehensive overview of the upcoming changes, the event offered companies and professionals a valuable opportunity to prepare for the changes of the future EU regulation and to plan necessary measures.
The first day focused on the key issues in the transition from the previous Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC to the new Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. Here, participants received valuable additional information from a legal perspective on the legal requirements for the risk assessment of machines and systems. In the afternoon, the talks focussed on specific changes to the future regulation on the topics of machine conversion and cyber security and functional safety in machine control engineering.
The second day began with the latest findings on technical documentation – after all, the new Machinery Regulation will ultimately require the provision of digital operating instructions and declarations of conformity. Other presentations covered topics including the latest developments in collaborative robot applications and practical tips on cyber security, particularly with regard to the implementation of NIS-2 or the future Cyber Resilience Act in mechanical engineering.
Both days were rounded off by a lively final discussion. The conference was also accompanied by an exhibitor area where numerous manufacturers and service providers presented their products and solutions to all interested participants.
IBF would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants, speakers and staff for a successful conference day in Linz. The event provided a great stage for all those present to exchange knowledge and practical tips on the Machinery Regulation.
